About The Sens

Developing Great People for Decades

The Mississauga Senators have a long and rich history as a member of the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL). Prior to a name change in 1991, the roots of the Mississauga Senators date back as far as the early 1950's, when they participated in the Toronto Township Hockey League (TTHL) under the banner of Clarkson.

In 1956, The Toronto Township Hockey League affiliated with the Toronto Hockey League (now the Greater Toronto Hockey League).

By 1967, boundaries were established and 155 teams from Applewood, Burnhamthorpe, Clarkson, Cloverleaf, Cooksville, Dixie, Erindale, Lakeview, Lyndwood, Malton and Port Credit were using four covered arenas – Port Credit, Dixie, Huron Park and Streetsville. In 1968, the Toronto Township Hockey League became known as the Mississauga Hockey League (MHL) and the Mississauga Senators started at the “A” level and progressed to having teams compete at the “AA” level.

In 1979, the Mississauga Senators were granted “AAA” membership in the Metropolitan Toronto Hockey League (now the Greater Toronto Hockey League), to create an 8-team “AAA” Rep League, and operating teams at every level from Novice to Midget, now called U10 to U18. Today, the Mississauga Senators continue the tradition of competing at the ‘AAA’ level in the world’s largest and most competitive minor hockey league, the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) and is committed to providing a fair and inclusive environment that is devoted to the care and fair treatment of its players, coaching staff, officials and parents.

The Mississauga Senators look forward to continuing to grow the game of hockey and to inspire, motivate, and teach through the development of our coaches.
